Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a Hardware Engineering-related occupation.
- Position requires 2 years of experience in the following: System-level knowledge, including hardware, software, and their interactions; Mobile phone hardware subsystems, including application processor, multimedia, GPU, modem and wifi; Optimizing software for power and performance improvements; Linux kernel and Android frameworks; and Debugging and root cause analysis for system issues (code, firmware and software).

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $132,000 - $189,000 + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits determined by role, level, and location. Position reports to the Google (Mountain View, California) office & may allow for a hybrid schedule per Google policy.
The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.
Responsibilities
- Work with cross-functional hardware and software teams to model power consumption and define power targets.
- Analyze and optimize the software running across the key components of the chipset (SoC) including CPU, GPU, Memory Subsystem and Connectivity.
- Debug and resolve battery drain issues.
- Collaborate with Android app teams across Google to help them optimize power.
- Develop tools and tests for validating and monitoring power consumption.
