Summary Wapiti Gravel Suppliers, a division of N.P.A., is hiring a Sign Person for the construction season!   The Sign Person is responsible for the safe setup, maintenance, and removal of traffic control devices and signage at construction sites. This position plays a key role in ensuring the safety of workers, motorists, and the public while supporting efficient traffic flow through work zones.Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, maintain, monitor, and remove traffic control signs, barricades, cones, and other traffic control devices in accordance with approved traffic accommodation plans.
  • Inspect traffic control layouts to ensure they meet regulatory and company standards.
  • Reposition signage and traffic control devices as required throughout the workday.
  • Assist with lane closures, detours, and work zone traffic management.
  • Coordinate with Flagpersons, Supervisors, Truck Drivers, and Construction Crews to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Regularly inspect work zones for damaged, missing, or improperly placed signs and devices.
  • Ensure traffic control equipment is clean, visible, and in good working condition.
  • Safely load, unload, transport, and store signage and traffic control equipment.
  • Report safety concerns, hazards, incidents, or damaged equipment to the Supervisor.
  • Maintain awareness of changing site conditions and traffic patterns.
  • Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support general construction activities when traffic control duties are complete or as assigned.
  • Perform other traffic control and construction-related duties as required.
Qualifications | Requirements
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred
  • Class 5 Drivers License preferred
  • Traffic Control Training preferred
  • Previous experience in traffic control, road construction, or signing operations is considered an asset.
Working Conditions
  • Weather dependent schedule of Monday to Saturday, with up to 12 hours per day.  Overtime is paid in accordance with applicable employment standards legislation.
  • Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50LBS on a regular basis.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required
  • Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended.
  • Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
