The Department seeks to expand and refine its capabilities in research, planning, and facilities management. As a key role within the Financial & Technical Services Division, we are seeking qualified candidates to serve as the Manager for the Planning, Research & Facilities Services Unit. 


About This Role:

The Manager of the Research, Planning, and Facilities Management Unit will play a lead role in expanding and optimizing the unit's workstreams. The key job duties will include, but are not limited to: overseeing the management of all facilities (owned and leased), managing all planning functions (comprehensive, strategic, small area development, land use); overseeing the grants management (full life cycle); managing security and controls access; managing the capital improvement project planning and management. The Manager will work directly with senior and executive leadership on a wide variety of ongoing and special projects. The selected candidate will possess strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate records, and meet deadlines. The ability to work independently and effectively with personnel at all levels is essential, as the position requires high-quality work results with minimal supervision.


Minimum Requirements:  High School diploma and eight (8) years of experience in research, planning, and facilities management within law enforcement or public safety settings.

Preferences: Preferred candidates will have:

  • A minimum of an associate's degree in criminal justice, public administration, public policy, or a related field of study.
  • Ten (10) years of experience in research, planning, and facilities management within law enforcement or public safety settings. 
  • Five (5) years of experience working as a lead in research, planning, and/or facilities management for a department or agency.
  • Five (5) years of grants management experience (full life cycle) for a local government department or agency.
  • Five (5) years of experience in access control management for law enforcement or a secure facility setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, federal and state grants management systems, enterprise resourcing planning system, and enterprise performance management system.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal rules and regulations 


Special Requirements: All employees considered for hire by the Police Department are subject to a Polygraph Examination and a thorough Background Investigation.


Work Schedule: Typically, Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-5:00 pm, and will periodically require time commitments outside of normal business hours to include evenings and weekends.


Starting Salary Range: $103,560 - $119,500.00
