What You Do and How You Do It:

A Financial Reporting Coordinator is a results-oriented member of the General Accounting management team. As a highly skilled supervisor of a professional team comprised of six financial reporting analysts, you will have a wide range of responsibilities. This includes:

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and essential support for all financial reporting for which Fund Accountants are responsible including identifying, testing, implementing and documenting process improvements to ensure accuracy, efficiency and compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of new system features to enhance timely accounting and financial reporting, adapting to evolving County policies and legal requirements.
  • Coordinate the documentation needed on how to complete processes, starting with documentation of the most critical tasks.
  • Provide back-up and support for the Financial Reporting Manager as needed.
  • Interpreting and complying with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and regulatory standards.
  • Applying strong analytical skills and sound professional judgment.
  • Managing competing priorities and complex deadline driven projects.
  • Train, supervise, develop, and evaluate assigned staff. 
  • Perform other work as required.

Here’s What You Need:

Bachelor's degree in accounting with five years of experience including two years as a supervisor in a diverse, complex accounting environment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  You must demonstrate extensive knowledge of GAAP; experience in managing the year-end closing of financial accounts and records, including the related financial report compilations, and work papers for the external audit. You must have excellent analytical and decision-making skills; and effective communication skills for collaborating at all levels in a complex organization. Effective time management and the ability to prioritize competing priorities are essential skills. Government accounting experience and CPA, CPFO, CGFM or other relevant certification preferred.
