SummaryPerforms a variety of manual laboring duties in the City of Flint’s Blight Elimination Division. Performs related work as required. Examples of duties
  1. Responds to and performs tasks to resolve blight concerns.
  2. Boards and secure vacant homes. 
  3. Mows vacant and overgrown lots. 
  4. Removes dumping and debris from sites in Flint neighborhoods. 
  5. Assists in planning, organizing, and executing neighborhood cleanup efforts as required. 
  6. Communicates with City partners, residents, and City staff in efforts to eliminate blight in Flint. 
  7. Records daily activities of Blight Elimination Coordinator in performing the above tasks. 
  8. Streetlight and sign clearing.
  9. Tree stump removal and tree trimming
  10. Storm damage restoration and removal.
Qualifications
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid State of Michigan Driver’s License.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  1. Ability to read and write. 
  2. Ability to follow simple oral instructions. 
  3. Ability to perform strenuous manual labor. 
  4. Ability to withstand exposure to variable weather conditions and to perform work which is generally outdoors. 
  5. Ability to meet the physical, mental and visual standards of the job. 
  6. Ability and willingness to work in a manner that will not needlessly endanger the safety to oneself, other persons, and equipment. 
  7. Ability to work with volunteers and neighborhood groups on a regular basis.
