Help drive operational excellence across critical water resource recovery and wastewater treatment infrastructure

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Technical Advisor - Plant Operations to join our Operations and Maintenance team based in Kwinana.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to play a key role in one of Perth's critical resource recovery and wastewater treatment operations, supporting multiple sites from Kwinana to Mandurah.

This includes several recently upgraded facilities and the Kwinana Water Reclamation Plant, which provides high quality recycled water to major industrial customers while reducing reliance on potable scheme water.

In this pivotal role, you will provide specialist operational and technical support across water resource recovery and wastewater treatment assets. Working closely with operations and maintenance teams, you will provide coaching, technical leadership, fault-finding expertise and operational guidance to ensure assets are operated safely, efficiently and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

 

About the Role

Reporting to the Manager – Plant Operations & Maintenance, you will:

  • Provide technical leadership and operational support to plant operations and maintenance teams, including acting in the Team Leader role when required.
  • Assist with the day-to-day delivery of treatment, maintenance and operational activities.
  • Lead fault-finding, process optimisation, shutdown planning and operational troubleshooting.
  • Support maintenance programs, minor projects and contractor management activities.
  • Drive compliance with operating licences, environmental obligations and safety requirements.
  • Coach, mentor and develop operational staff, building technical capability across the team.
  • Support incident management and emergency response activities, including participation in after-hours standby rosters and overtime as required.
  • Work closely with engineering, maintenance, asset management and project teams to resolve complex operational challenges.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and capital works projects.

 

About You

You are a safety-focused, motivated and results-driven operational leader with strong technical capability and experience within complex operations and maintenance environments.

 

Essential Requirements

  • Certificate III in Water Industry Operations, equivalent qualification, or significant relevant industry experience.
  • Progress toward, or completion of, a Certificate IV in Frontline Management (or equivalent).
  • Considerable supervisory or leadership experience in an operational environment.
  • Significant experience within a process industry, utilities, major infrastructure, or operations and maintenance environment.
  • Strong fault-finding, problem-solving and technical diagnostic skills.
  • Current C Class Driver's Licence.


Highly Regarded

  • Experience in Water Resource Recovery, wastewater treatment, water treatment, RO, UF, or similar process industries.
  • Trade qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience with chemical handling, complex isolation and tagging procedures, confined space entry and permit-to-work systems.
  • Knowledge of risk assessments, work instructions and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) processes.
