An opportunity has presented itself for a Cybersecurity Specialist to join our team in North Sydney
What You’ll Do
Play a key role in strengthening Pacific National's cybersecurity capability by monitoring, detecting, investigating and responding to cyber threats across our Microsoft cloud and security platforms.
Reporting to the IT Security Lead, you will:
- Investigate and respond to security incidents, alerts and escalations across Microsoft Defender and Microsoft Sentinel environments.
- Perform proactive threat hunting activities to identify malicious activity, emerging threats and security risks.
- Develop, implement and tune security analytics, detection rules and monitoring use cases to improve threat detection capabilities.
- Support vulnerability management activities, including identifying, assessing and tracking remediation of security vulnerabilities.
- Maintain and improve the health, effectiveness and coverage of Microsoft Defender, Sentinel and related security tooling.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud and technology teams to strengthen security controls and improve security outcomes across the organisation.
- Contribute to incident response playbooks, operational procedures and continuous improvement initiatives across the security function
What You’ll Bring
- Demonstrated experience in Cybersecurity Operations, Cloud Security or Security Engineering roles.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel and Microsoft security technologies.
- Experience investigating security incidents, conducting threat hunting and supporting incident response activities.
- Strong understanding of SIEM, threat detection, security monitoring and vulnerability management principles.
- Experience developing or improving security analytics, detection rules and monitoring use cases.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Azure security principles and cloud security best practice.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences
