Construction delivers efficient, financially competitive, whole of life, infrastructure. Our comprehensive knowledge of our project services and assets enables us to communicate and negotiate for the best long-term options to meet the needs of the ratepayers and residents of Brisbane.

Construction delivers an extensive range of specialist services in the areas of infrastructure, storm water drainage, bridge maintenance, transport network technologies, trades, land remediation, asset intelligence, lighting and facility services.

The Role

As a key member of the Branch Management Team, you'll play a pivotal role in driving the performance, governance and strategic direction of Brisbane City Council's Construction Branch. Working closely with executive leaders, you'll provide high-level advice, oversee workforce and business planning initiatives, and ensure strategic priorities are effectively translated into operational outcomes.

This is a diverse and influential leadership opportunity where you'll lead business improvement initiatives, strengthen governance and risk management frameworks, and help shape the future direction of a branch responsible for delivering critical civil infrastructure outcomes across Brisbane. You'll work across a broad stakeholder network, bringing people, strategy and performance together to achieve lasting results.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • lead branch-wide performance reporting, planning and continuous improvement initiatives
  • provide strategic advice and insights to support executive decision-making
  • oversee governance, risk, compliance and business management frameworks across the branch
  • drive workforce planning, resource management and organisational performance outcomes
  • lead and develop a high-performing team while fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.

To be successful you will have:

  • proven experience providing strategic advice to senior leaders in a complex organisational environment
  • strong capability in business planning, performance reporting and organisational improvement
  • exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex issues
  • demonstrated leadership experience building capability and driving high performance
  • excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.
