What you’ll do:
Reporting to the Asset Protection Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintenance of: the health and safety program; incident investigations; hazard identifications; policies and procedures; manuals; emergency response plans; National Safety Code (NSC); training; and education as it relates to health and safety. This position will work closely with the following Swan Valley Co-op locations: Food Store, Petroleum, Gas Bar, and Home Centres in Swan River and The Pas. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Provide advice and participate in the input of developing, implementing and maintaining the health and safety program.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections, incident investigations, hazard identifications and safety audits. Will establish incident prevention and risk reduction strategies with employees to identify and correct potential health and safety hazards.
- Conduct and facilitate health and safety orientation and competency based training for required employees and contractors.
- Ensure consistent alignment with safety programs across responsible Swan Valley Co-op locations.
- Develop and prepare policies, procedures and manual adjustments related to safety.
- All other duties as assigned.

Who you are:
You’re looking for a career in Retail Operations and:
- You have excellent customer service skills, communication skills and the ability to problem solve.
- You have a valid class 5 driver’s license and willingness to travel when required.
- You have 3 - 5 years of relevant experience.
- You have a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Health & Safety Consultant (CHSC) (would be considered an asset).
- On occasion, are able to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings and weekends.
- You’re honest and trustworthy, are results-oriented and strive to be the best in what you do.
- You believe in building relationships and collaborating to deliver solutions that matter most, and you recognize the value that different perspectives bring to meet shared objectives.
