Referral Specialist

• Referral Operations: Coordinate and process patient referrals to medical specialists and other services.

• Insurance & Authorization: Verify patient benefits, secure pre-certifications, and obtain prior authorizations for tests.

• Patient Communication: Discuss referral details, benefits, and estimates with patients via phone or in person.

• Documentation: Track and log all referral transactions accurately inside the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.

• Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required; higher clinical roles may require an LPN license.

• Experience: At least 1 to 2 years of work experience in a medical office environment.

• Knowledge: Familiarity with medical terminology, basic coding (CPT/ICD), and insurance guidelines.

• Tech Skills: Proficiency with computers, office equipment, and practice management software.
