JOB SUMMARY: 

Under general direction maintains hospital utility, plumbing and sewage systems, maintains and repairs equipment and systems throughout the hospital complex. Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust). 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Plumbing System repair, troubleshooting, and maintaining commercial and industrial systems, including water supply lines, drain systems, valves, and sump pumps. Experience with powered Augers and drain unclogging equipment. 
  2. Replace and repair plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, urinals, and drinking bottle fill stations. 
  3. Works on other equipment and systems throughout the Medical Center. 
  4. Contributes to the safe environment of the Medical Center complex. 
  5. Maintains all tools and equipment properly and according to department standards. 
  6. Contributes to the efficient operation of the department. 
  7. Contributes to the achievement of the mission and philosophy of the Organization. 
  8. Contributes to the effective operations of the Organization by demonstrating dependability in job performance. 
  9. Demonstrates a commitment to professional accountability and growth to maintain and expand knowledge and skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT: 

The task of this job does not involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, but employment may require performing supplemental tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues. Works throughout the hospital, will be involved in maintenance and construction projects throughout facility and grounds. Moderate to heavy physical activity required with lifting, moving and installation of building equipment, facilities and systems. Normal stress involved with day-to-day operations, subject to heavy stress on occasion. Will be working on systems and components in hot and dirty areas. Subject to injury from cuts, burns, strains, abrasion, electric shock and contamination from different chemicals and waste. Must be able to move or position 50 lbs. independently. Must be able to pass the color blindness test. 

 

CONTACTS WITH OTHERS: 

There will be contact with other Associates, guests and patients on a routine basis. 

 

EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: 

Extensive knowledge required in the installation, maintenance and repair of sanitary waste disposal system, installation and repair of utility pipe systems and components. 

Qualifications

Must have five (5) years minimum experience in plumbing and pipe fitting trades.
