One of our large client is looking for a contract Software Developer. Details are as below:
  • Location city(s): Toronto, London, Winnipeg
  • Role Title: Software Developer, CL 16
  • Management Specialist: Intermediate (5-7 years)
  • Work Allocation: 100%
  • Work Style: Hybrid - 3 days/week in office
  • Number of Openings: 1
  • Anticipated Start Date: 4 weeks from the official offer day
  • End Date: 1 year from the start date
  • Part-time or Full-time: full-time
  • Potential convert to permanent : No
  • Contractor to work extra time or on-call:  No
  • Enhanced Reliability Status: not required

Qualifications and Competencies

Training or knowledge and experience with:

  • Familiarity with the following application development environment languages and tools: VB6, VB.net, C#, MS Access, ,Net Framework SQL Server, Sybase, Control M, Remedy, Service Now, Git/Bit Bucket.
  • Experience as part of a queue rotation, handling calls, working with incident-based software (Remedy or Service Now), troubleshooting issues
  • Customer Service experience 
  • Software design methodologies and documentation tools
  • Software requirements analysis and design principles
  • Quality assurance tasks, testing server and desktop applications
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently or as part of a team, plan and organize your own work, communicate effectively in writing and verbally in person or remotely, initiative, team-oriented leadership skills and attention to detail
  • Quick learner and self-motivated
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Ability to work remotely

Certifications/Education

  • Degree/diploma in related discipline (computer science) or equivalent combination of training and experience.

What you will do

  • Design, develop, integrate, test, transition to production and maintain software applications
  • Participate in project planning
  • Provide input into the evolution of the software development environment and methods
  • Provide ongoing daily production support and remediation of business applications
  • Being part of a queue rotation for monitoring incidents
  • Contribute to the elimination of problems through permanent fixes including the identification of solutions, scoping the work, and executing the changes
  • Task management for themselves as well assisting other team members
  • Complete scheduled maintenance, legislative changes and changes required to optimize and streamline the existing application inventory (both purchased and internally developed applications)
  • Trouble shoot application problems and maintain an inventory of expertise for identified problems
  • Complete development assignments as assigned through your team leader and negotiated with project teams
  • Liaise and provide consulting support for applications to project teams
  • Occasional after hours and weekend work may be required
