About CSARC: The CIP, South Asia Regional Center (CSARC), Agra, serves as a key hub for agricultural research and development focused on potato and sweetpotato systems in South Asia. The center supports research initiatives aimed at improving crop productivity, climate resilience, and sustainable farming practices. It collaborates with national research institutions, government agencies, private players and development partners to promote innovative agricultural solutions.

About the position: The Project Engineer will be part of the Operations team and will work closely with CIP project staff, contractors, and the National Horticulture Board (NHB) during the construction phase and later will be responsible for all day to day maintenance related job at the centres. The Engineer will provide dedicated, hands-on engineering oversight of the design, construction and maintenance of the CSARC campus, acting as a technical extension of the CIP team on site. The Project Engineer serves as CIP's technical representative throughout the planning, design, construction, commissioning, handover, and operational phases of the CSARC campus, providing independent technical oversight to ensure quality, accountability, and compliance. The role will lead and support the planning, development, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of CSARC's physical infrastructure, facilities, utilities, and engineering systems to ensure the Centre remains safe, functional, sustainable, and fit for purpose.

Requirements

  • Advanced Degree in Civil Engineering (or closely related field) or long-term professional experience with an Engineering degree; professional engineering registration/license preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervision of greenfield institutional, laboratory, or campus-scale construction projects in India.
  • Working knowledge of Indian building codes, structural and geotechnical standards, and construction quality control practices.
  • Experience conducting independent site supervision/oversight is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with HSE standards on construction sites.
  • Strong written communication skills for technical reporting and non-conformance documentation.
  • Willingness to be based in Agra.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating closely with a multi-stakeholder team (CIP, NHB, contractors, architects).
