Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 4 years of experience in data analytics, trust and safety, policy, cybersecurity, or a related field.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree in relevant field.
- Experience applying content policies, reviewing sensitive material, or managing high-stakes crisis response environments.
- Experience analyzing incident trends to build structured operational recommendations and mitigate systemic policy risks.
- Deep understanding of regional geopolitical contexts, combined with fluency in an extra language (e.g., Arabic, French, or Korean).
- Proven ability to drive consensus across PR, Legal, Policy, and Engineering teams during fast-moving incidents.
- Exceptional communication skills for executive updates, with demonstrated resilience managing sensitive content.

The Rapid Response team oversees and manages escalations across all YouTube product areas. As a Policy Escalation Specialist, you will work across Trust and Safety and YouTube to ensure that we address escalations holistically. You will provide management of escalations, creating a pathway to resolution, and communicating with key stakeholders as well as our executive team. You will develop preventative solutions to address future escalations, and help assess risk to the YouTube platform. You will review graphic, controversial, and sometimes offensive video content in line with YouTube’s Community Guidelines.
In this role, you will need to be available for on call work at weekends and holiday hours on a rotational basis.

Responsibilities
- Own, triage, track, and resolve policy escalations end-to-end, driving stakeholder consensus and delivering clear executive communications.
- Review complex, sensitive, or policy-challenging video content against YouTube’s Community Guidelines to ensure creator and user safety.
- Build deep subject-matter expertise across YouTube product areas to increase triage efficiency and accelerate resolution times for urgent issues.
- Lead root-cause analysis on incidents to identify systemic risks and collaborate with Engineering on enhanced tools and preventative safety solutions.
- Conduct post-incident reviews to capture key learnings, track action items, and drive cross-functional follow-up to prevent future occurrences.
