GENERAL SUMMARY
An Enrollment Specialist performs a variety of functions in a health care setting. Enrollment Specialists assess patient needs and eligibility for health care services, collect and record patient information, and provide information and services to patients. This role contacts the patient or their responsible party to obtain missing or incomplete demographic or insurance information. Additionally, the Enrollment Specialist verifies insurance through electronic processes; contacts insurance company to obtain eligibility and verification of covered and non-covered services for scheduled appointments. An Enrollment Specialist must be able to multi-task, utilizing and matching a variety of traditional and online access solutions. The Enrollment specialist must have a general idea and knowledge about the field. Excellent grammar skills, proofreading, and proficiency in writing along with interpersonal customer service skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures accurate and efficient processing of applicants applying for Indigent assistance.
Assists patients and staff timely and in a clear, helpful manner while providing exceptional customer service.
Collects, records, and update patient information in EMR System such as patient demographics, financial information, verifying insurance(s), payor plans, eligibility, effective/expiration dates, co-payments, PCP, and other specified information.
Schedule patients for their yearly appointments, prints out appointment reminder along with documents needed for the appointment.
Explain financial requirement to patients or other responsible party.
Researches patient accounts when requested by supervisor or manager, taking appropriate actions.
Maintain appropriate databases, manuals, logs, files, and other required documentation; demonstrate an understanding for patient confidentiality.
Proactively shares new information related to enrollment, demographic or insurance updates with all appropriate areas and team members.
Assist in off-site enrollment events, as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Required:
a. Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
b. Dynamic, enthusiastic and highly customer service focused personality and ability to consistently deliver an exceptional customer service experience. Dedicated to increasing overall customer service satisfaction by displaying excellent verbal communication / telephone skills at all times.
c. 2+ Years of Customer Service experience is required.
d. Must be detail oriented with the capability to handle confidentiality.
e. Must have good communication skills.
2. Preferred:
a. At least one year of customer service in health information management, physician office or other clinic environment experience.
b. Bilingual ability.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role may require lifting up to 50 lbs.
The work location for this role is onsite, typically sitting at a desk or table in an office.
