ABM is seeking an experienced Centrifugal Chiller Technician to support commercial and industrial customers throughout the Orlando area. This role is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, repairing, and starting up large centrifugal chillers and related HVAC equipment.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Trane, York, Carrier, and/or Daikin/McQuay centrifugal chillers and is comfortable troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and controls-related issues. This position requires a self-directed technician who can work independently, communicate professionally with customers, and maintain strong safety and service standards.

- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain centrifugal chillers, including:
- Trane CenTraVac
- York YK and YT Series
- Carrier 19XR, 19DV, and 19XRV
- Daikin/McQuay Magnitude and comparable equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance, annual inspections, equipment startups, and major repairs.
- Troubleshoot chiller controls, variable frequency drives, refrigerant circuits, motors, compressors, condensers, and evaporators.
- Conduct refrigerant leak detection, recovery, evacuation, charging, and related service procedures.
- Analyze equipment performance using operating data, vibration analysis, and oil analysis.
- Perform or coordinate tube cleaning, eddy current testing, and mechanical inspections.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, P&IDs, ladder logic, and technical manuals.
- Complete accurate service reports, maintenance records, and customer recommendations.
- Respond to emergency service calls and participate in an on-call rotation.
- Build strong customer relationships through clear communication and technical expertise.
- Follow all EPA, OSHA, company, and customer safety requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of commercial HVAC experience.
- At least 3 years of centrifugal chiller experience.
- Demonstrated experience servicing at least one major centrifugal chiller platform.
- Current EPA Universal Certification.
- Strong electrical, refrigeration, and controls troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work overtime, nights, weekends, and emergency call-outs as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Factory training or certification from Trane, Johnson Controls/York, Carrier, or Daikin.
- Experience with BACnet, building automation systems, and chiller plant optimization.
- Experience troubleshooting VFDs, oil management systems, and magnetic-bearing chillers.
- Experience completing major overhauls or compressor tear-downs.
- Journeyman HVAC license, where applicable.
- Experience supporting healthcare facilities, airports, data centers, mission-critical environments, or large commercial campuses.
