Your Job

Koch Engineered Solutions (KES) is looking for a Sr. Business Systems Analyst, to join our Information Technology (IT) team in Scottsdale, AZ.  Working as an integrated group with the Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Operations, Commercial and Financial technology product teams, we support businesses that design, build and maintain facilities for various industries across the world.

This is an individual contributor role where you will lead business analysis, backlog clarity, stakeholder alignment, and delivery coordination for DEPCOM technology improvements. You will partner with business leaders, IT product and capability teams, architects, developers, and vendors for technical design, prioritization, and implementation.


While this role is closely connected to our Scottsdale, AZ team, we are also excited to welcome Wichita-based candidates who want the opportunity to contribute to a high-impact organization while maintaining their home base in Wichita. For Wichita-based team members, this role offers an arrangement with one required week per month spent onsite in Scottsdale, allowing you to build meaningful relationships with business partners and teammates while enjoying the balance and convenience of working primarily from Wichita.

What You Will Do

Understand the business 

  • Build trusted relationships with DEPCOM stakeholders across construction, engineering, procurement, operations, commercial, and finance. 
  • Seek to understand business goals, pain points, process gaps, and technology opportunities before recommending solutions. 
  • Map current state and future-state processes, conduct gap analysis, and assess business impact. 

Shape the work 

  • Translate business needs into clear requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and/or functional specifications. 
  • Help prioritize the business systems backlog based on value, feasibility, risk, and stakeholder alignment. 
  • Facilitate backlog refinement, sprint planning, and retrospectives when needed to keep work clear and actionable. 

Deliver practical improvements 

  • Coordinate implementation with IT capability teams, software vendors, developers, and business users. 
  • Support testing, user acceptance, documentation, change control, and adoption activities for system updates, retirements, and implementations. 
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders throughout project phases to maintain alignment, risks, and tradeoffs. 

Improve the system landscape 

  • Identify opportunities to simplify workflows, reduce manual effort, automate repetitive tasks, and retire low-value legacy processes or technologies. 
  • Monitor system and application adoption and gather feedback to inform iterative improvements. 
  • Stay current on relevant technologies, vendor capabilities, data/analytics practices, and AI-enabled opportunities that could accelerate DEPCOM business outcomes. 


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience in or comparable to business analysis, business systems analysis, product ownership or technology delivery 
  • Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into user stories, acceptance criteria, functional specifications, or practical delivery plans
  • Experience mapping business processes and identifying implementable improvement opportunities 
  • Experience working with IT teams, software vendors, or software delivery teams to solve business needs
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, facilitate tradeoff discussions, and align stakeholders around clear decisions
  • Ability to support implementation activities, including testing, user acceptance, documentation, user readiness and adoption feedback 
  • Experience building stakeholder relationships, communicating business and technology needs, analyzing complex problems, and defining clear problem statements in business environments

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience supporting platforms or solutions in the EPC environment
  • Experience with data & analytics governance and tools (IE; Snowflake, SQL, Power BI). 
  • Experience with AGILE© teams and innovation frameworks.
  • Experience evaluating and applying intelligent technologies to improve business processes, decision making, and user adoption
