Description:

Engineer Environmental Health & Safety. EHS Engineer is responsible for leading environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) programs and driving EH&S training initiatives to ensure regulatory compliance, promote a strong safety culture, and support continuous improvement throughout the facility.

Evaluate proposed regulations to determine financial, industrial, public and environmental impact. Interaction with Federal, State and local regulatory to resolve compliance issues; establishes permit requirements and assists in EPA, OSHA, state and local regulatory audits. Leading the EH&S training coordination with the primary focus on required, regulated agency training and assist employees on best practices, precautions, and procedures established to maintain EH&S compliance and to improve staff competency and performance. The Engineer EH&S will report to the Director of Quality and will have no direct reports.

Qualifications 

What you will be responsible for:

      Implements and administers government required safety, health and environmental programs to ensure facility safety and environmental compliance

      Undertakes the overall management and administration for the company’s EH&S program to include maintenance of OSHA, EPA records

      Serves as local SMS (Safety Management System) Coordinator responsible for managing and maintaining a company’s Safety Management System (SMS) in compliance with aviation safety regulations, such as FAA Part 5 and other applicable standards. This role ensures that safety requirements are integrated into all operations, promotes a proactive safety culture, and supports continuous improvement in safety performance.

      Coordinates the monitoring of all workplace environments by analyzing work operations and processes, materials, equipment, and work habits of employees; measures the magnitude of exposure to workers of all environmental hazards by selecting or devising methods and instrumentation suitable for such measurements; and presents specific conclusions and recommendations to appropriate management groups.

      Compiles and submits reports required by law with respect to environmental requirements, air emissions, water discharge, waste generation and disposal, etc.

      Responsible for all safety related initiatives, policies and procedures and conducts routine safety and environmental inspections

      Acts as a liaison with State, Federal and local issues on safety, and institute corrective actions in a timely fashion on any violations.

      Lead and manage the activities of the safety committee; serves as the EH&S expert resource for safety/incident investigations

 

What you will need to be successful in this role 

  • Bachelor of Science in Health & Safety or Environment or closely related field or equivalent combination or training and/or experience.
  • Three plus years of facilitation or corporate training experience.
  • Two plus years’ instructional design experience (preferred).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective organization relationships inside and outside the department.
  • Computer Skills-working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn in-house company programs.
  • FAA 145 Repair station experience highly preferred.
