Job Description

Renesas Bangalore is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Engineering/Software Lab Technician with strong hardware and PC support experience to enable Software QA, Systems Engineering, and Product Development teams developing industry-leading digital controllers for AI, client, and server applications used by top-tier customers. This position requires on-site presence in the lab five days per week.

  • Expertise in SMT hand soldering (down to 0201 components), PCB rework, fine-pitch soldering, board bring-up, debugging, and testing experience is essential. Set up, calibrate, and operate electronic test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies). Experience should come from an engineering lab environment where troubleshooting, rework, and board validation involve unique challenges requiring independent technical judgment rather than repetitive production work.
  • This hands-on role is responsible for lab benches, racks, test station PCs, virtual machine management, board setup and tuning, electronic hardware wiring, board debugging, ongoing equipment, and test station maintenance and troubleshooting. The role also supports equipment intake, labeling, inventory tracking, documenting and training for team members in lab equipment safety, ISO, and other relevant protocols. Work will be prioritized through a lab ticketing system to support the testing and bring-up needs of multiple engineering teams.
  • This role covers the full spectrum of engineering challenges, from big-picture lab improvements and process development to PC test station support, and hands-on board-level debugging and soldering. Qualifications

  • Experience: 15+ years of hands-on experience in electronics testing, hardware repair, software troubleshooting, PC and lab maintenance.
  • Familiarity with standard lab test equipment and measurement tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, and datasheets.
  • Lab software and hardware technician Diploma/Engineering in electrical/ electronic /embedded/computer.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Enforce ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
  • Assist as requested with development of the overall annual Team equipment plan.
  • Be engaged in learning new testing skills across software and hardware.

Certifications Preferred:

  • PC hardware, networking, assembling, repairing, and configuring computer and hardware systems and electronic and embedded controls.
