Your Role:

• Expert in bioprocessing/biomanufacturing/process development focus on upstream process, as cell line development, CCM screening and optimization, cell culture process development and optimization, bioreactor operation, etc.

• Work closely with our clients’ technical teams, providing consultative and hands-on guidance for integrated upstream processes, to address key current and future needs within the industry through sound science and engineering.

• Design and perform hands on upstream process development, scale up and implementation work following self-developed protocols that are aligned with best practices

• Process and analyze raw data to demonstrate technical expertise through scientific thought process and recommendation.

• Engage and deliver thought leadership activities which includes conference seminar presentation, customer trainings, webinars.

• Lead scale down study and process scale up implementation to support troubleshooting and investigation.

• Deliver high quality communication to ensure an outstanding customer experience (written reports, telecons, face to face meetings).

• Develop and establish trusted relationship and partnership with customers through direct customer engagement and technical support.

• Deliver training to internal and external customers in bioprocess upstream technology.

• Provide complex consultation, advice using scientific modelling.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Represent Merck as technical expertise in commercial org and drive thought leadership. Drive best-in-class capabilities, skills, thought leadership and effectiveness in technical team to enable winning commercial outcomes based on customer needs.

• Use scientific knowledge, modelling, hands on process design to address complex customer need and troubleshooting cases

• Plan collaboration discussion points and drive discussion towards a target outcome of commercial and customer.

• Network and collaborate with key commercial and business stakeholders to position the team and company for success.

• Proactively capture and share the VOC & insights with the relevant functions (R&D, Franchises, CA, etc).

• Proactively identify and capture upstream process opportunities using sales effectiveness tools

 

Who You Are:

• M.S. or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related Engineering or science discipline

• 8+ years’ experience in biopharmaceutical technical roles in manufacturing, pilot, and/or lab scale environments with direct, hands-on exercise for upstream process step, as cell line development, CCM screening and optimization, cell culture process development and optimization, operation of bioreactors and other upstream process-related equipment.

• Sound knowledge of science and engineering fundamentals coupled with a hands-on, practical sensibility of engineering design

• Technical mastery of one or more Bioprocess applications (process requirements, best practices, and industry standards) ideally for CCM

• Strong experience in the application of scaling & implementation requirements for biopharmaceutical upstream process

• Extensive experience in clear & concise communication to diverse audiences in both written and oral formats

• Commercially astute, you understand market needs and trends

• Open minded and customer-focused

• Effective team player, you know how to work with different teams in a multicultural matrix environment
