What You'll Do:
- Manage a variety of accounting and financial operations that support the agency's day-to-day success.
- Prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, and maintain accurate financial records.
- Process contracts, encumbrances, and financial transactions in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for state and federal agencies.
- Analyze financial data to ensure accuracy, compliance, and informed decision-making.
- Support procurement activities and Purchasing Card (PCard) administration.
- Process accounts receivable, cash receipts, and payment transactions.
- Partner with internal departments and external stakeholders to reconcile financial and operational data.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Contribute to the integrity of the agency's financial systems while supporting leadership with reliable financial information.
What We're Looking For:
- Strong accounting, reconciliation, and financial reporting experience.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
- A customer-focused mindset with a commitment to providing high-quality service.
- Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel (preferred, if applicable).
Location and hours:
Camp Dodge,7105 NW 70th Ave. Johnston, Iowa 5013 Monday – Friday 8AM-4:30PM (Flexible Schedule), Telework opportunities after 6 months.

QualificationsGraduation from high school or G.E.D equivalency and experience equal to five years of accounting work involving compilation, tabulation, examination, verification or recording of financial, statistical or related fiscal program data using elementary bookkeeping principles and practices;ORcompletion of a post-high school accounting curriculum from an accredited vocational, technical, business or community college, with at least twenty semester hours of accounting coursework;ORan equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of clerical office work for each year of the required education;ORan equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting thirty semester hours of accredited post high school education in Business, Accounting or a closely related curriculum for each year of the required experience;ORemployees with current continuous service in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to one year of full-time work as an Accounting Technician 2.For additional information, please click on this link to view the job description.
