We are looking for a highly capable Team Leader – Plant Maintenance to lead our maintenance team at Woodman Point, ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of critical wastewater treatment and resource recovery assets.
Woodman Point is currently being upgraded to one of the most sophisticated wastewater treatment plants in Australia with new assets coming online including, thermal hydrolysis, steam generation, significant methane production and power generation

About the Role
Reporting to the Manager – Plant Maintenance, you will lead a skilled mechanical maintenance team responsible for the maintenance, modification and commissioning of complex mechanical, gas, steam, pneumatic and power generation systems across Water Resource Recovery assets.
As the subject matter leader for specialist systems, you will provide technical direction, oversee high-risk maintenance activities, and act as an authorised person and permit holder to ensure compliance with legislative, safety and operational standards.
This is a permanent full-time position.
What You Will Be Responsible For
Operational Leadership
Lead maintenance operations and team performance by coordinating preventative and corrective maintenance programs, managing workforce planning and prioritising work across critical mechanical, gas, steam and process equipment.
Provide technical leadership and operational support through complex fault-finding, maintenance oversight, plant shutdowns, commissioning activities, asset upgrades and emergency response management.
Champion safety and compliance by fostering a strong safety culture, conducting safety observations and toolbox meetings, monitoring compliance requirements, and participating in standby and after-hours support arrangements as required.
Safety & Compliance
Provide governance and technical oversight as an Authorised Person, Permit Holder and Supervising Gas Fitter for complex gas systems and Type B appliance installations.
Ensure safety, environmental and regulatory compliance by leading risk assessments, implementing controls for high-risk activities, and managing audits, inspections and certification requirements.
Drive a culture of continuous safety improvement through proactive hazard management, compliance monitoring and ongoing enhancement of team safety performance.
Business Performance & Continuous Improvement
Drive asset performance and operational efficiency by leading initiatives that improve reliability, optimise plant performance and support continuous improvement across maintenance activities.
Manage maintenance planning and project delivery through effective scheduling, resource optimisation, maintenance upgrades, repairs, shutdown planning and improvement projects.
Support business outcomes and compliance by providing technical input to capital works, monitoring maintenance performance, preparing operational reports, and ensuring procurement and contractor management requirements are met.
Leadership
Lead and develop a high-performing maintenance team through effective coaching, mentoring, training and talent development to build capability and support long-term success.
Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement by driving engagement, performance and alignment of team objectives with operational and organisational priorities.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring substantial leadership experience together with strong technical expertise in mechanical and gas systems within a complex industrial or process environment.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant trade qualification in a Mechanical trade or Gas Fitting, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- Significant experience within a complex process industry, operations and maintenance environment.
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience managing multi-disciplinary maintenance teams.
- Current Gas Fitting Permit or Authorisation relating to Type G & I systems and Type B appliance installations.
- Demonstrated experience performing the function of Supervising Gas Fitter and/or Gas Authorisation Holder.
- Experience in Water Resource Recovery and wastewater treatment operations is an advantage.
- Strong troubleshooting experience within wastewater treatment and industrial processing environments.
- Experience managing major maintenance activities, shutdowns and projects.
- Current Western Australian C Class Driver's Licence.
Knowledge & Skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and gas systems.
- Strong understanding of high-pressure, high-temperature and generation systems.
- Sound knowledge of relevant safety legislation, compliance requirements and industry standards.
- Experience with preventative maintenance strategies, reliability improvement and asset management practices.
- Strong risk management capability and commitment to safe work practices.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong planning, organisational and decision-making abilities.
