JOB SUMMARY:
This position will lead a team of engineers responsible for developing, designing, qualifying, and supporting production in actuation for AeroMotion.
This position works in partnership with project managers, project engineers, and other functional groups to coordinate schedules, priorities, resources, and budgets in support of Aero Motion and Textron Aviation projects.
The Engineer-Group Lead will foster a work environment which encourages communication, collaboration, innovation, creativity, individual responsibility, growth, and a spirit of teamwork, as well as provide engineering advice and assistance to other functions as required.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan and execute design, development, and qualification activities for actuators, following the design phase gate process
Responsible for reviewing and approving design packages and other deliverables produced by direct reports
Develop near-term and long-term strategic plans to provide growth opportunities for team members in the areas of technical/personal development as well as development of leadership capabilities
Coordinate with department manager on program schedules, resource allocations, and project priorities
Must be able to understand complex technical issues as well as the work-scope and risks associated with different alternatives necessary to guide the design team to technical solutions
Participate in integrated engineering team meetings and guides/coordinates tasks of multiple internal disciplines
Communicate status information to all levels of management, external customers and authorities
Support Textron Aviation’s product and headcount strategies by recruiting interns, entry-level engineers, experienced engineers, and contractors
Experience with preparing bids and proposals is preferred
Develop own managerial skills through training, professional organizations, and published information. Recognize team members who are capable of leadership roles (supervisory and technical) and develop these team members through appropriate training and coaching
QualificationsEDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in:
Mechanical Engineering
Aerospace Engineering
Other related Engineering field
7 years of experience in aviation, engineering, or another related field.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Working knowledge of CFR 14 Part 23 and CFR 14 Part 25 and MIL-HDBK-516C is desired
Experience with SolidWorks & SolidWorks PDM is preferred
Technical knowledge of hydraulic actuators, electro-mechanical actuators, and components
Strong working knowledge of Textron Aviation aircraft development and certification processes is required
Experience in leading technical teams through complex issues
Effective in providing communications and presentations to technical and management representatives is preferred
Experience with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint are required. Experience with Microsoft Project
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong time management skills including multi-tasking and task prioritization is required
