Work Schedule: Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. Join Ally Financial Inc. as a Senior Data Analyst - Automation in Risk & Governance. You will work alongside advanced technology and support the development of premier risk management solutions. The Work Itself

  • Develop and sustain automated tools for assessing risk.
  • Analyze and interpret complex data sets to determine potential risks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to successfully implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure data governance standards are strictly adhered to.
  • Provide detailed reports and insights to inform decision-making processes.
  • Develop control testing automations in Snowflake to transform legacy processes into continuous monitoring.
  • Apply AI-assisted development workflows to accelerate automation delivery.
  • Build and implement retrieval systems that support control testing and operational decision-making.
  • Brainstorm, build, and ship workflows led by user input to automate tasks.
  • Maintain Power BI dashboards that track automation health and control coverage.
  • Write Python scripts for automation pipelines and data transformations.
  • Guide junior team members on technical build and development methods.
  • Document patterns and playbooks for team replication.

The Skills You Bring

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • More than 5 years of experience in data science, data engineering, or related technical positions.
  • Strong command of SQL, with practical experience in Snowflake.
  • Proficiency in Python for scripting and API integration.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools and agentic coding workflows.
  • Understanding of retrieval-augmented generation for building retrieval pipelines.
  • Experience with Power BI for analytics and reporting solutions.
  • Proven capability to convert manual processes to automated, scalable solutions.
  • Capability to direct and support junior team members within a cooperative atmosphere.
  • Entrepreneurial approach with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience fine-tuning large language models for domain-specific applications.
  • Familiarity with financial services, risk management, or compliance automation.
  • Experience with continuous monitoring in a risk or controls environment.
  • Proficiency with Streamlit for prototyping internal tools.

Base Pay Range: $85000 - $150000 USDAn individual's position in the range is determined by the specific role, the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications. We review internal pay, the competitive market, and business environment prior to extending an offer.  Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan.
