Project Overview:Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. We are partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline. Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology, Inc. offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicle, and data center markets. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, the M&T global business unit also includes colleagues working in Arizona, Ohio, Texas, India, and additional project locations around the world.
Job Summary:Assigned to the project in a managerial capacity. Responsible for planning, supervising and directing operations within direct-hire scope, including pipe, steel, mechanical equipment, electrical, instrumentation, and module installation, and all subcontract scope within assigned area. Supervises and directs superintendents and others, as assigned. Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance is in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets. Performs general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions.#LI-CL1
Major Responsibilities:Leadership / Supervision (Discipline Supervision of superintendents supporting 50 to 100 craft or Responsible for Area/Facility)
- Supervises and directs craft activities, subordinate superintendents, and others, as assigned. (Direct Hire)
- Schedules work to be performed and reviews work accomplished by each craft. (Direct Hire)
Planning / Productivity
- Determines workforce requirements.
- Coordinates established area operational plans.
Tools, Materials & Equipment
- Oversees tool and equipment usage on the site.
- Manages the preparation of Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables and ensures that the craft professionals have the tools they require to be productive.
Safety & Quality
- Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
- Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.
Technical
- Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents
- Manages engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and 8-10 years of work experience or 12-14 years of related work experience in lieu of degree.
- Owns safe execution of work in their area—deep, practical knowledge of means and methods, sequencing, temporary works, and trade interfaces, with zero tolerance for uncontrolled conditions.
- Plans and drives work using AWP principles—turns engineering and procurement inputs into executable weekly and daily plans, manages constraints, and maintains crew-level productivity.
- Leads multi-trade field teams—sets clear expectations, holds foremen accountable, resolves conflicts fast, and builds bench strength through coaching and development.
- Controls the job—understands cost, schedule, and quality drivers in their area, anticipates risk, and takes corrective action before impacts hit the critical path.
- Communicates with precision—translates field reality into clear status, escalations, and decisions for project leadership, engineering, safety, and client stakeholders.
