Perform work of routine difficulty in the preparation/processing and maintenance of personnel information. This position is a working/journey position that works under general supervision. Examples of duties
- Administer and score selection examinations.
- Audit personnel action forms and departmental time sheets.
- Compile and maintain records for use in employee benefits administration.
- Compile data from personnel records and prepare reports.
- Examine employee files to answer inquiries and provide information to authorized persons.
- Prepare and file reports of accidents and injuries at establishment.
- Prepare and maintain required reports.
- Process employment applications and assist in other recruitment and selection activities.
- Record employee information such as personal data, compensation, benefits, tax data, attendance, performance reviews or evaluations, and termination date and reason.
- Update employee files to document personnel actions and to provide information for payroll and other uses.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records, and restricted County information.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Three (3) years of H.R., clerical, or administrative experience.
- Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may substitute for the minimum requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Arizona residents must have an Arizona Driver’s License upon hire; newly established Arizona Residents must have one within 30 days of hire.
- Knowledge of the types of occupations found in public entities.
- Knowledge of staff research work and report writing.
- Knowledge of interviewing techniques.
- Knowledge of Business English and bookkeeping and accounting methods.
- Knowledge of state and Federal labor laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
- Skill in analyzing computation and statistical information.
- Skill in operating office equipment.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
Work is performed in a safe and secure work environment that may periodically have unpredicted requirements or demands.
The hiring salary for this position is dependent upon experience, qualifications, and position funding; starting salaries above the first quartile require additional approval.
