We are seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and hands-on Plant Operations Manager 3 to lead our skilled maintenance team and oversee our facility infrastructure. In this vital leadership role, you will provide direct guidance and work side-by-side with our skilled trades team by directly supervising and support a diverse group of professionals, including: HVAC Technicians, Electricians, Plumbers, Maintenance Repairers and Power Plant Engineers.

Key Leadership duties will provide team supervision through by providing clear direction, mentorship, and support to direct subordinates to foster a safe and efficient workplace. Serve as a primary point of contact, ensuring clear and concise communication between internal staff and external contractors. Display excellent leadership by managing teams effectively to meet strict operational deadlines and facility goals. Tackle daily operational challenges with analytical thinking and technical expertise to keep the Iowa Veterans Home running smoothly.

QualificationsTen years of full-time diversified skilled trades experience, two years of which were at the managerial level in the construction, maintenance and repair of residential and commercial buildings; or the operations, maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment utilized to produce commercial power, heat and refrigeration;ORten years of full-time experience in the technical inspection of commercial and/or residential buildings for compliance with local, state and federal building and safety codes;ORten years of full-time technical experience in preparing engineering and/or architectural plans and specifications for commercial and residential buildings;ORan equivalent combination of education and experience substituting 30 semester hours of accredited post high school education in structural, civil, electrical or mechanical engineering for each year of the required experience; (no substitution for two years of full-time job related experience);ORemployees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes one year of full-time work as a Plant Operations Manager 2;ORemployees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes twenty-four months of full-time work as a Plant Operations Manager 1 or Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor;ORemployees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes forty-eight months of full-time work as a Maintenance Repairs Supervisor.
