Employment type: Freelance.
Student: Two a dults students (One seeking to learn French and one seeking to learn Swahili). Student native language: Turkish with strong fluency in English. Schedule: 2x to 3x times per week (schedule time to be agreed). Start Date: August 2026 Length of Contract: Up to 100 hours (50 hours teaching French and 50 hours teaching Swahili). STAR7 started its activity as a Language Service Provider more than 20 years ago and it is still expanding worldwide.
The STAR7 LLC Academy team works with clients such as companies and relocation companies to provide language training for families moving to new countries.
We are currently recruiting a Freelance French and Swahili Language Instructor to deliver on-site lessons to two adult students in Nairobi, Kenya. This assignment may also lead to additional opportunities in the future, supporting other students (virtual and/or in-person).
Key Responsibilities - in this role you will:
- Design and deliver engaging one-to-one lessons tailored to the student’s level, goals, and learning style.
- Focus on:
- - Swahili: Basic/daily conversation, family interactions, community engagement and shool-related communication.
- - French: Develop professional communication skills and focus on spoken conversation, business communication and e-mail writing. Assess existing foundation knowledge (prior beggining level, not dialectic-specific) and tailor the curriculum accordingly.
- Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to support continuous improvement.
- Encourage active participation and build the student’s confidence in speaking and understanding French and Swahili.
- Adapt teaching methods and pace based on the student’s evolving needs.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with the student and project manager.
Requirements
- Native in Swahili and near-native proficiency in French.
- Proven experience in teaching/instructuring French and Swahili as a second language, preferably in a one-to-one setting.
- Strong knowledge of the grammar, pronunciation, and usage of French and Swahili.
- Ability to create engaging and personalized lesson plans.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, flexibility, and a student-centered approach.
- A degree, Education, Linguistics, or a related field is a plus.
- TEFL/TESOL certification or equivalent is preferred.
