CDC Trial Manager I

Novo Nordisk
Gatwick, South East, GBFull TimeMid-levelPosted Today

Clinical Development Centre (CDC)

United Kingdom

Shape the future of clinical research in the UK – and see your work translate into better outcomes for patients living with serious chronic diseases.

Your new role

As Trial Manager I, you will lead the delivery of clinical trials in the UK from site selection through to database lock and archiving, ensuring every study runs in line with the protocol, ICH-GCP, UK legislation and Novo Nordisk SOPs. You will be the driving force behind your trials, connecting global Trial Squads with local CRAs and CTAs to bring new therapies one step closer to patients.

Day-to-day, your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as project manager for assigned clinical trials within the CDC – owning strategy, feasibility, recruitment, retention, risk management, database lock and archiving

  • Leading the CDC project team (CRAs and CTAs and other relevant roles), planning and conducting trial team meetings, and co-monitoring based on project risks

  • Managing the country budget, driving study start-up in collaboration with the study start-up unit, and overseeing clinical supplies processes including import and local depot set-up

  • Consolidating CDC input on key trial documents, systems and vendors (e.g. CRF, diary), and keeping CTMS updated at trial country level

  • Monitoring recruitment and retention, reviewing and approving monitoring visit reports and protocol deviations, and ensuring data cleaning and DBL deliverables per the Data Flow Plan

  • Coordinating communication between Trial Squads, CRAs and local/regional stakeholders, escalating risks proactively and  supporting issue resolution with trial vendors

  • Planning and executing local Investigator and Monitor meetings, and supporting global equivalents where required

  • Ensuring full compliance with ICH-GCP, the ABPI Code of Practice, Novo Nordisk Business Ethics, quality standards and your Personal Compliance Plan, and facilitating audits and inspections as required

Your new department

As part of Global Trial Portfolio (GTP)  you will join one of our largest operational units. With a promise to outperform the competition, we continue to be the growth driver for Novo Nordisk, and to improve health at scale across the globe.

Within GTP, you will join the UK Clinical Development Centre (CDC) – the team responsible for delivering Novo Nordisk's clinical trial portfolio in the UK. We work in close partnership with global Trial Squads, local CRAs, investigators and sites to ensure trials are executed to the highest quality, on time and in full compliance. Here, your work will directly shape the evidence that brings new treatments to patients.

Your skills & qualifications

We are looking for an experienced clinical trials professional – potentially a senior CRA ready to step up into trial management – who thrives on ownership, coordination and delivery in a highly regulated environment. To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • A Life Science degree or equivalent qualification

  • Proven experience managing clinical trials, ideally including multi-centre studies; experience as a senior CRA looking to take the next step into trial management is highly relevant, and international trial co-ordination or exposure to more than one phase of development is a plus

  • Strong project and resource management skills, with the ability to drive deliverables forward across a complex stakeholder landscape

  • Excellent knowledge of clinical trial methodology and up-to-date understanding of the clinical trials environment across Europe – ICH-GCP, regulatory requirements and SOPs – along with a solid grasp of the drug development process (current GCP training and certification required)

  • Computer literacy and IT proficiency, including CTMS, EDC and Veeva Vault;

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English, with the diplomacy and self-drive to influence, align and inspire teams both locally and globally
