Your Role:

Develop integrated solutions across the Process Solutions portfolio and holistically support customers for large new facility or expansion projects aligned with Merck’s strategic priorities across its manufacturing, R&D, and infrastructure footprint. The role is responsible for end-to-end planning, execution, budget control, and stakeholder coordination for capital investments across regional operations.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Maintain technical excellence across modalities and participate in opportunities for additional upskilling. Develop broad awareness of complementary franchises/products beyond Process Solutions  portfolio to promote integrated selling approaches and maximize ongoing consumable opportunities.
  • Management of complex biopharma projects (capital or multi-franchise). Lead full lifecycle of projects from feasibility to commissioning. Define project scope, goals, KPIs, and deliverables aligned with business objectives.
  • Engage in collaborative ways of working between all PS product ranges (especially Single Use and Integrated Platform Solutions - SUIPS) to bring cumulative benefits to opportunities and increase Merck step share.
  • Build relationships with sales teams to drive holistic, project based interactions with customers.  Provide seamless engagement with customers through collective development of intentional strategies to advance targeted opportunities to sales.
  • Collaborate with internal stake holders (Operations, USP/DSP/SUIPS/PFM/MSAT/FS/TSS/Marcom and CA team members) to ensure seamless transitions of responsibilities across franchise for successful execution of projects
  • Collaborate with external partners for automation and A&E companies for facility design support
  • Maintain Merck brand awareness by networking with external industry partners like ISPE and PDA.
  • High level networking capability with customers to drive and execute projects beyond technical specifications
  • Engage with local and global leadership for approvals and alignment.
  • Align with the APeC Head of Customer Applications, Single Use and Integrated Platform Solutions on the business strategy and fulfill regional customer needs and gain maximum market share
  • Collect, share and gain insights with leadership, commercial strategy and support functions, including competitive intelligence and best practice (win/loss) sharing
  • Ensure compliance with local regulatory, environmental, and safety standards. Adhere to GMP/GLP standards in life science and healthcare project environments.
  • Understanding of automation to engage with customers and selection of right partners or 3rd party in region to drive end to end projects.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and provide regular progress reports to leadership.
  • Utilize CRM tools like SFDC for regular updates. Use of Microsoft powerpoint, excel, word for day to day activities.

Financial Oversight:

  • Responsible for providing project support to drive PS business and achieve sales targets across all franchises within allocated region. 
  • Coordinate with controllers, product managers and commercial teams to utilize price modeling tools to prepare quotations, conduct ROI and risk assessments for the projects  
  • Develop and manage CAPEX budgets with customers.

 

Who You Are:

  • Essential: Bachelor/ Master’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or Life Sciences with 10+ years of experience in managing complex Biopharma capital investment projects.
  • Knowledge about various Biopharma sectors – Like ADC / MAB /CGT
  • Background in Single Use and Integrated Platform Solutions, hardware
  • Desirable: Additional education or experience in Business, Marketing or similar. Any certification will be beneficial
  • Strong financial acumen and knowledge of CAPEX processes. Experience in Greenfield/Brownfield pharma projects.
  • Understanding of Bioprocessing, processes and products, multi-use (stainless steel) systems, single use systems and consumables.  Automation, PAT and digital would be favourable
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
