About the role

This is a hands-on studio operator role for someone with a live production or broadcast background, expert vision switching skills, a strong understanding of signal flow, and the ambition to grow in a professional studio environment.

You'll drive live streaming events, live-to-tape and virtual productions in a Tricaster and PTZ environment, hold the technical standard high, operating from each of our two purpose-built studios.

Based out of our Burnley Support Office, the studios use Tricaster vision switchers (multi-M/E, mixed outputs, graphics overlays), Blackmagic ATEMs, Canon and Birddog PTZ cameras, NDI workflows, Behringer audio desks, Sennheiser wireless radio mic systems, Nanlite lighting grids and RTMP streaming technologies.

 What's involved

  • Direct multicamera, live-to-tape and virtual productions end to end, from setup and signal routing through to a clean, on-air output.
  • Run multi-M/E programs on Tricaster with mixed outputs, keyed graphics overlays, PTZ control and NDI workflows.
  • Set up and balance digital audio desks, wireless radio mics, Nanlite lighting and RTMP streaming.
  • Diagnose hardware and software faults under pressure, isolate the root cause, and refine workflows so the same problem doesn't recur.
  • Maintain, test and optimise studio equipment so the studio stays operational, safe and ready to shoot.
  • Record, back up and test all content against agreed workflows so it's operable across the required platforms and devices.

 Who we're looking for

An operator who owns the technical reliability of the studio and goes to air clean, on time and on brand. You solve faults at the root, not patch them, and you're always finding smarter ways to use the studio's capability to deliver better outcomes for each production and its stakeholders.

You balance creativity with structure, juggle competing priorities, and stay calm under live pressure. You’re curious about new techniques, open to feedback, and driven to lift every production. You'll join a collaborative Talent & Capability team that values shared learning and practical solutions, with a focus on career development and individual growth.

 You'll need

  • 2+ years in broadcast, corporate or events, operating in a video studio or broadcast production environment, including live or live-to-tape work.
  • Strong hands-on capability across professional video and audio kit: PTZ cameras, studio lighting, sound desks and vision switching.
  • Practical operating knowledge of vision mixers (Tricaster and/or Blackmagic ATEM), multi-M/E workflows, graphics overlays, and multiple mixed inputs and outputs.
  • PTZ camera operation (Canon, Birddog or equivalent), NDI workflows and studio-to-stream signal routing.
  • Digital audio mixing, wireless radio mic systems, and LED / Fresnel lighting setup.
  • RTMP / live streaming delivery, basic networking, and confidence across Windows and Mac OS.
  • An eye for composition, lighting and staging that lifts the creative standard of what goes to air.
  • Ability to support and coach presenters or on-screen talent, from first-timers to seasoned hands.
  • Planning and organisational skills to juggle multiple productions in a fast-paced schedule.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, comfort with Microsoft 365, and a collaborative, feedback-driven approach.
  • A qualification in audiovisual, media or video production.
  • Field camera experience on broadcast cameras or equivalent, shooting in Log (e.g. Canon C200 in C-Log, FX6 in S-Log), plus Insta360 Pro 2, DJI drones and gimbals, and cabled PA for offsite events.
