SummaryKey Accounts Department Clerk provides administrative and operational support to the Key Accounts team, ensuring efficient management of major customer accounts, accurate documentation, and timely communication. This includes  the V.I. Executive Branch and its independent agencies as well as the federal government accounts and large power customers.

  • Receives and dispenses information to key accounts customers coming into the establishment, by telephone or by mail
  • Makes decision on minor matters and notifies manager of action taken
  • Maintains contract files, files for key accounts and other departmental related matter
  • Talks with customer by telephone or in person and receives orders for installation, disconnects or changes in service, or change of address
  • May research or review files, accounts receivable records and other records to clarify and explain customer billing or account balance to consumers
  • May type corrected bills, correspondence and other written material; may file documents in customer files
  • Performs general clerical work; composes and types correspondence on routine matters and on a variety of general and technical topics
  • Prepares times sheets and maintains time and attendance files
Qualifications
  • Thorough knowledge of regulations, practices, and procedures applicable to the collection and depositing of revenues
  • Ability to meet the character and reputation standards of a bonding company
  • Ability to keypunch cash received and to prepare a variety of routine reports on such transactions
  • Considerable knowledge of standard office practices and procedures
  • High degree of initiative and dependability
  • Some knowledge of the method and equipment used in data entry and computer utilization
  • Ability to plan work and carry through to completion without close supervision
  • Ability to use adding machines, copy machines and computer terminals
  • Ability to review documents to verify completeness and accuracy of information
  • Ability to deal effectively with all persons contacted during the course of work.
  • Skill in the operation of adding machines and other mechanical office aids
Supplemental informationGraduation from high school and three years of experience involving customer contact and general clerical duties.
