Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Ensure smooth operation of overall utility including air compressors, chillers, steam boilers, DG sets, electrical system, pump house & fuel handling.
- Attend breakdown of machines in minimum possible time whenever it occur
- Co-ordination with service floor and production team for their requirement of utilities supply
- Maintain inventory of spares & consumables for machines with follow up of immediate superior
- Inspection of received materials in Engineering Store & pass or reject accordingly.
- Ensure safe work practices at work place.
- Conserve energy by efficient utilization of resources.
- Give suggestion /feedback to improve the system.
- Preparation of daily utility reports.
- Online Documentation of all operation and maintenance activities
- Follow of all SOP’s.
- Execution of all preventive maintenance as per planner.Attend all training programs as per training matrix and others trainings conducted time to time.
- Ensure 5S in area
- Follow all safety procedures (Work permits, LOTO, PPEs etc.) of plant.
- Active participation in all modification /projects activity in utility area.
- Ensure operator must continuously monitor all critical parameters such as steam pressure, temperature, drum level, furnace temperature, and flue gas conditions through gauges and control systems, and immediately identify any abnormalities like fluctuations, leakages, unusual noises, and vibrations to prevent system failure or unsafe conditions.
- Ensure that he is responsible for ensuring a continuous and adequate supply of treated feedwater by checking water quality parameters such as pH, TDS, conductivity, and hardness, and performing routine blowdown operations (both surface and bottom) to maintain boiler efficiency and prevent scaling, corrosion, and damage to internal components.
- Ensue the operator must strictly follow all safety procedures and ensure that safety devices such as safety valves, pressure gauges, level indicators, alarms, and interlock systems are functioning properly at all times, and must be capable of taking immediate corrective actions during emergency situations like low water levels, flame failure, overpressure, or boiler trips.

- TO ensure the boiler operator must carry out routine inspection of equipment including boiler drum, tubes, pipelines, burners, fans (FD, ID, PA), valves, and auxiliary systems, and report any signs of wear, leakage, scaling, or malfunction to the maintenance team for timely corrective actions
- To maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all operational parameters, including pressure, temperature, fuel consumption, water test results, and equipment status in log sheets and shift reports, and document any abnormalities, breakdowns, or corrective measures taken during the shift.
- Ensure the operator is responsible for ensuring energy-efficient operation by optimizing combustion, reducing heat losses, controlling blowdown frequency, and suggesting improvements for reducing fuel consumption and improving overall plant efficiency
- Ensue he is responsible for maintaining good housekeeping in the boiler area by ensuring cleanliness, proper handling of waste, avoiding oil or water spillages, and following 5S practices to maintain a safe and organized workplace
- Ensure coordinate with maintenance, electrical, and production teams to ensure smooth operation and quick resolution of issues, and assist during preventive maintenance, shutdowns, and system restart activities using proper isolation procedures (LOTO)
- Ensure operator is responsible for maintaining proper log sheets and records of all operational parameters, including steam generation, chilled water temperatures, compressor pressure readings, energy consumption, and breakdown reports for analysis and audit purposes

Qualifications
Educational Qualification
A class Boiler Operator , A Class Boiler Certification
Minimum Work Experience
8+ years overall experience. 3 years within pharma industry.
Skills & Attributes Functional Skills
- Strong knowledge of boiler operation (start-up, shutdown, load handling)
- Understanding of steam generation, pressure & temperature control
- Knowledge of boiler water chemistry (pH, TDS, conductivity)
- Ability to perform blowdown operations and efficiency improvement
- Skill in monitoring drum level, furnace conditions, and flue gas parameters
- Knowledge of chiller types (air-cooled / water-cooled) and refrigeration cycle
- Understanding of compressor operation (reciprocating / screw / centrifugal)
- Knowledge of compressor types (reciprocating / screw / centrifugal)
- Knowledge of energy-efficient compressor operation and load sharing
- Skills in identifying air leaks, pressure drops, overheating issues
- Understanding of electrical distribution systems (LT panels)
- Knowledge of fault identification (tripping, overload, short circuit)
- Safe handling of panel operation and isolation procedures (LOTO)
Resident Skills
- Practical understanding of boiler interlocks, trips, and safety devices
- Skill in maintaining chilled water temperature and system flow stability
- Capability to manage multiple compressors (load sharing & sequencing)
- Ability to identify - Air leakages , Pressure drops , Overheating
- Practical knowledge of handling - ACB, MCCB, contactors

- Strictly follows safety procedures, PPE, and work permit
- Maintains constant awareness of high-pressure and high-temperature risks
- Ensures assigned tasks are completed without supervision
