Position is responsible for reviewing and tracking breast imaging results (BI-RADS 4-5) and provides guidance and recommendations to patients and referring physicians on those results. They will coordinate your care, ordering necessary test and treatment and follow up care. Operates within the Comprehensive Breast Services program at TGH Imaging.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Utilizes EHR system for retrieving and documenting breast imaging patients, and EPIC and the fax server for order retrieval.
• Access and utilize Clario for breast biopsy approvals.
• Contacts referring physician by phone or fax for the biopsy orders.
• Tracks the patients on the Comprehensive Breast Services (CBS) program by running reports and utilizing the EHR system.
• Contacts patients and effectively and compassionately to provide abnormal results and recommendation for biopsy.
• Schedules additional exams as recommended by the radiologist or referring physician.
• Communicates efficiently with the referring physician’s office, facilitator, transcriptionist and manager.
• Fax status sheets, scan confirmations into the patient account and file appropriately in a timely manner.
• Filed referring physician offices, patients and TGH Imaging facilities that call for help with scheduling, orders, stamping and all other issues that they may need help with.
• Visit physician offices to educate, grow and promote the CBS program. Assist Breast Navigator I and II when needed and all other duties assigned.
QualificationsQualifications / Education / Experience
• High school graduate or GED preferred.
• Breast Health Navigator Certification
• Preferably RN, LPN, APRN, MA or Breast Imaging Technologist
• Proficient in computer software and excellent typing skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Problem solving techniques and skills
• Must be caring and compassionate and able to deliver difficult information delicately.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, specifically breast and breast cancer terms, BI-RAD
• categories and HIPAA
• Proficient with software applications RIS and Microsoft Office suite.
• Great phone and phone etiquette abilities. Able to communicate clearly to establish cooperative relationships with patients, families, physicians and team members.
• Ability to read and write effectively in English
• Knowledge of medical terminology, BI-RAD categories and HIPAA • One-year experience in healthcare related field preferred
• Previous scheduling of medical procedures, preferred
