SummaryThis position is located in the Cobb County Human Resources Department.
This position works up to 29 hours per week, Monday thru Friday. The schedule for this position will work hours ranging between 8:00am and 6:00pm, but flexibility in working hours is required.
Presents to small groups on various wellness topics.
Performs a variety of fitness tests, such as body composition.
Designs personal exercise programs, and provides general nutrition and dietary analysis.
Maintains knowledge of changes in the field of kinesiology, physiology, exercise science and ACSM guidelines.
Assists with overseeing fitness center and clinic facilities: conducts new member orientations; inspects equipment and contacts vendors for repairs; monitors center use; maintains and cleans equipment; and coordinate and monitors surveillance/security systems for the clinic and fitness centers.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Associates or Bachelors degree in the field of Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health Promotion, Physical Education or related field; supplemented by one (1) year of experience in personal training, group fitness instruction, wellness programming, or a related fitness environment (experience may be through internships, practicum, or volunteer service); or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience conducting basic fitness assessments and developing safe exercise programs.
- Experience providing excellent customer service in a fitness, recreation, or wellness setting.
- Experience assisting with fitness center operations, wellness programs, or group exercise classes is preferred.
- Ability to work with individuals of varying fitness levels while providing a safe, encouraging, and professional exercise environment.
- Experience educating participants on proper equipment use, exercise safety, and healthy lifestyle practices.
- Experience maintaining a clean, organized, and safe fitness facility and reporting equipment concerns.
QualificationsMust possess at least one of the following certifications: ACE, ACTION, AAPTE, ACSM, CSCS, Cooper Institute, NASM, NCSF, NCCPT, NESTA, NETA, NFPT, NSCA, ISSA. Supplemental informationTasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
Sensory Requirements
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, depth, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.

Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, hazardous materials, fire, unsafe structures, heights, confined spaces, machinery, electric currents, toxic agents, animal/wildlife attacks, animal/human bites, water hazards, violence, disease, or rude/irate customers.
