Security Officers provide a high-quality protective security service across University buildings and grounds, supporting staff, students and visitors while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and service. Recent work at Gatton Campus includes innovative agricultural research helping future-proof food security, highlighting the importance of maintaining a safe and secure environment for world-class teaching, research and community activities.
This permanent night shift position is based at Gatton Campus and forms part of a 7-day operation that provides continuous overnight coverage. The roster operates on a fortnightly cycle, with every second weekend rostered off, supporting both operational continuity and work-life balance.
Key responsibilities will include:
Responding under supervision to alarms, medical incidents, fire emergencies and other security matters as they arise
Conducting overnight patrols, lock-up procedures, and providing access for authorised personnel to University buildings and grounds
Operating the Central Security Monitoring Station (CSMS) and responding to enquiries from staff, students and members of the public
Preparing accurate, detailed incident reports and supporting preliminary investigations in line with University procedures
This is a full-time, permanent position at HEW Level 3.
About YouCurrent Queensland Certificate II in Security Operations including Security Officer Unarmed, Crowd Control, Bodyguard and Monitoring modules.
Current St John, Red Cross or Queensland Ambulance First Aid Certificate.
Current Queensland Manual Open Driver Licence.
Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary security methodologies and practices.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage professionally with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Experience using security systems, software and reporting tools, with the ability to prepare accurate and timely reports.
Demonstrated capability in responding to emergency situations with professionalism, sound judgement and restraint.
